Case Study

  • Client: Trent Limited (Tata Group)
  • Brands: Westside, Zudio, Star Bazaar
  • Coverage: Pan-India — stores, warehouses & distribution centres
  • Engagement: Multi-year, phased delivery
  • Scope: Wi-Fi, servers, print standardization & security

Overview of the Customer

Trent Limited, part of the Tata Group, operates some of India's best-known retail brands — Westside, Zudio and Star Bazaar — alongside a nationwide network of warehouses and distribution centres. Rapid retail expansion created the need for standardized, secure and centrally manageable technology across every location. SNA Infotech was engaged as a strategic technology partner to help design, deploy and support that infrastructure at scale.

Scope of Work

  • Enterprise Wi-Fi: Aruba-based wireless infrastructure for large warehouse operations.
  • Server Modernization: Large-scale enterprise server rollout for retail and distribution.
  • Print Standardization: Nationwide Xerox printer deployment across stores.
  • Passwordless Authentication: Evaluation of face-based login across Windows and Mac devices.
  • Attendance & Biometrics: Optimization of biometric attendance across distribution centres.

The Requirements

  • Standardization at scale: Consistent IT infrastructure, servers, networking and endpoints as new stores, warehouses and distribution centres opened nationwide.
  • Warehouse-wide connectivity: Complete, enterprise-grade wireless coverage for the Jaipur warehouse, built to support demanding operations and future growth.
  • Identity & security modernization: A passwordless, face-based login approach across an estate of roughly 3,000 Windows laptops and 250 MacBooks, using standard webcams, to improve both security and user experience.
  • Reliable workforce management: Accurate, well-synchronized biometric attendance across distribution centres, with efficient bulk employee management.

The Solution

A. Enterprise Wi-Fi Infrastructure (Aruba)

SNA Infotech designed and deployed a comprehensive Aruba wireless network for the Jaipur warehouse, delivering full coverage under centralized cloud management:

  • 192 × Aruba CX 6000 PoE switches
  • 192 × Aruba AP-505 access points
  • 14 × Aruba AP-515 access points
  • Aruba CX 8100 core switching
  • Aruba Central cloud management

The rollout was executed in phases around site-readiness. During deployment our teams identified and resolved cabling faults, patch-panel issues, non-functional access points and fibre/uplink problems — after which all services were restored and every access point became fully operational.

B. Large-Scale Server Modernization

A major rollout of approximately 275 Acer Altos BrainSphere T310 F5 enterprise servers standardized the platform across retail and distribution infrastructure, with remote management, high-availability architecture and five-year onsite warranty support.

C. Nationwide Print Standardization (Xerox)

SNA Infotech standardized printing across Trent stores nationwide on Xerox B3020 and B3025BI devices, replacing an inconsistent printer ecosystem. The programme included device serialization, warranty management, installation support, store-wise deployment tracking, cartridge lifecycle management and a dedicated support-escalation process — with SNA Infotech as the primary support interface.

D. Passwordless Authentication Evaluation

SNA Infotech led an assessment of face-based passwordless login using standard webcams across Windows and Mac environments, with centralized management — accounting for real-world constraints such as network restrictions, port controls, virtualization and cloud deployment.

E. Attendance & Biometric Optimization

Working closely with distribution-centre teams, SNA Infotech carried out root-cause analysis of the ESSL biometric attendance environment — addressing database synchronization, facial-recognition sync and bulk employee management — with a planned on-site evaluation and rollout across sites.

The Results

  • Reliable connectivity: The warehouse Wi-Fi reached full operational status, enabling continuous operations.
  • Standardized platforms: Consistent server and print environments across multiple locations simplified deployment and support.
  • Stronger security foundation: The passwordless evaluation laid the groundwork for an improved identity-security framework.
  • Accountable support: Dedicated ownership and escalation improved incident resolution and satisfaction.

Conclusion

The Tata Trent engagement shows SNA Infotech operating as a strategic technology partner rather than a hardware supplier — combining large-scale server deployments, nationwide print rollouts, warehouse Wi-Fi modernization, biometric optimization and security transformation to support a rapidly growing retail and distribution network. Key strengths included pan-India delivery, strong project governance, post-deployment ownership and deep retail-environment expertise, delivered in collaboration with the Trent IT team, Fiora Services, Xerox, Aruba and Acer.
